I can’t even tell you how excited I am to announce that the 1st shipment of Willow Haven Outdoor Bushcraft Packs have arrived. And, they are made in the USA deep within North Country!
Designed for the most rugged conditions, these packs will never fail you. Our packs are made from the best materials on earth. The pack body is cut from durable waxed canvas – cured with an age-old formula that repels water but still allows the pack to “breath”. Saddle grade leather and solid brass hardware are used for the closures and straps. The more you use these packs the better they look. These packs take you back to a time when product quality meant life or death to explorers, hunters, and trekkers. Just as they trusted in and depended on their packs to carry their most important and valuable resources, so can you.
We have several different pack styles in different sizes and with varied features – some with axe pockets, some with cavernous bodies for long treks and some that are very simple for the minimalist in all of us. A couple of styles are designed for 1-2 day Bushcraft adventures, others are designed for longer trips that require more resources. We are hoping to have all of the packs photographed and listed for sale in the WHO Store before January. Below is a sneek peek at one of my favorite packs.
The pack shown above is named after my Grandfather – Coy Wolford. With some Native American blood running through his veins, he eventually settled in the foothills of Kentucky where self-reliance became a way of life for him. Some of my best memories as a boy were with Grandpa ‘Tucky – riding in the back bed of his old pick-up truck (dodging tobacco spit from the front window) down some twisted back-woods country road looking for a fishin’ hole. More than once we made make shift cane poles from wild reeds growing on the shore and caught a mess a blue-gills and sun-fish to clean for lunch or dinner. He showed me some great tricks for gathering live bait which I will eventually share with you as well in a future video. As a boy, I can remember thinking – this is the life. So this pack reminds me of Grandpa ‘Tucky – simple, reliable, rugged, compact, quality and very ‘cool’ in a vintage kind of way.
I’ll post many more details about all the packs later…
