The Beaver Succeeds and Sets a New Year’s Resolution

This post is an update to one from a few weeks ago: Bug Out Bag Preparedness Lessons from the BEAVER: Chip away at it!

If you remember from the previous post, I introduced you to a Beaver who dominates the Lower Swamp Lands at Willow Haven Outdoor.  While the Beaver remains elusive to my camera, I have decided to set up a trail cam to capture some photos when I’m not around.  In the last post, I showed you the Beaver’s ambitious project below:

I guess this tree was the Beaver’s 2011 Year End Goal because he finished the job right on time: December 31st, 2011.  Below is a picture of the scene on January 1st, 2012.

All from 2 really sharp front teeth and a determined attitude.

Now for the scary part…. the Beaver’s 2012 New Year’s Resolution.  I’ve decided the Beaver is preparing for what might happen in 2012 by building an impenetrable bunker.

15 feet away from the tree in the photo above is this Mighty Oak which he started to chew on January 1st:

Are you kidding me???  I think you will agree that the Beaver has set an unbelievable preparedness goal for 2012.  The Beaver has inspired me once again to set lofty and seemingly unattainable goals for myself in 2012.

As we begin the much anticipated and often head-lined year of 2012, what are your preparedness goals in the coming months?

Remember, it’s not IF but WHEN,

Creek

    You have some nice-looking land. How awesome to have a beaver on your property.

    My goals are to:
    1) have a bug out bag by year end;
    2) be proficient at starting fire without matches;
    3) build a small survival kit.

    Hi Creek, it was so nice meeting you and seeing the great things to come. My husband, children and I are blessed to have met you and look forward to learning all that you have to offer at Willow Haven. I read this post on here and looked at the pictures and can’t help but laugh and smile because now I can visualize what my husband and kids have tried explaining for years now regarding this beaver by the creek…I have heard so many stories about the amazing things this fascinating and ambitious beaver can and has accomplished. Now I see first hand why so many days of discussions over this animal has filled my home! :-) So, we have all browsed your website and can’t wait to see more! Welcome to the neighborhood and see you soon! God bless you and all those helping you in this endeavor. Blessings, Your “survival family” neighbors, the Matolcsy’s
